October 9, 1939 ~ May 8, 2024
Elaine Margaret Rule MacNab born October 9, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to Ralph and Phoebe Rule the second of 3 daughters passed away on May 9, 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO.
Elaine excelled in her school studies and loved playing the piano and cooking. During her teen years, her parents leased and managed a lodge on Hamer Bay near Parry Sound, Ontario and Elaine cooked on a wood stove for the summer guests. Elaine’s parents were faithful Christians and had connections through Christian Fellowships around the country. Elaine met her future husband Dave through this connection, and they married in August of 1960. Elaine attended business college in Toledo and Dave graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. Along came 3 wonderful children: Ruth-1963, Daniel-1965 and Ernie-1968. To pursue business opportunities, they moved from Pittsburgh to Warren, Ohio, then to Toledo, Ohio. The family participated in and enjoyed many youth group activities as their children grew. In the late 70s and early 80s, they became involved with manufactured housing communities and Elaine was the accountant from 1977 until her passing. In the late 70s, they first visited Deer Valley Ranch in Nathrop and subsequently purchased Valley Home Furnishings and moved here in 1991.
Dave and Elaine were introduced to Prison Fellowship, which soon became an important part of their lives and ministry for 26 years. Elaine battled serious health issues in the mid-90s and again during the last 9 years but continued to share the beauty and love of Jesus Christ in the prison system.
Elaine’s 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren brought her great joy, and she delighted in communicating frequently with them and shopping for special toys, books and gifts for each one.
Elaine is survived by her husband and three children, sisters Louise (Dan) Woehl and Jean (Frank) Allan, grandchildren Colin (Cheyenne) Macnab, Tyler (Dani) Macnab, Brad (Kylie) Macnab, Alisa (Zak) Lamm, Alana Macnab and Chase Macnab. Great Grandchildren Benji, Cooper, Matthias, Graeme, Declan, Cade, Eli, June, Alice, Abel, Zoe, Paige, David, Kacee, Rainy and Paisley as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elaine’s name to Darren Patterson Christian Academy, Samaritan’s Purse or the Gideons.
