The Decker Fire, burning in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness Area in the San Luis Valley 9 miles south of Salida, is now listed at 263 acres. 

     The Decker Fire activity has been limited the last couple of days by cooler temperatures, higher humidity and less wind.   

    Additional resources have arrived to manage the fire.  An Air Resource Advisor is now assigned to the fire and will be monitoring smoke in an around local communities.  Firefighters will continue to monitor the fire and work to ensure that the fire remains on national forest lands.   

     Flames may be visible from Salida and the Highway 50 corridor.      

    Lightning started the fire last Sunday.
