SALIDA, Colo.—The Salida Hospital District has announced the period for hospital board member nominations of Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) is now open. There are three four-year term open seats available.
The current terms of office for three board members Dean Edwards, Lydia Segal, M.D., and William Alderton will end in April 2025 and HRRMC is pleased to announce that all three board members have chosen to run for another four-year term. Current board members Stacy Osborne and Daniel Wardrop, M.D. were elected to four-year terms in 2023.
The board plays a critical role in overseeing organizational efforts of HRRMC, allowing our community to receive needed medical care locally, and board members must remain highly engaged.
In order to be successful in these critical oversight roles, Board members should possess the following qualities:
- Strong understanding of financial management in a healthcare setting;
- Commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of HRRMC;
- Ability to balance the needs of the community with available resources;
- Collaborative approach to decision-making;
- Willingness to serve on committees and contribute to the overall success of the organization; and
- Dedication and willingness to devote a considerable amount of time each month towards board initiatives.
Hospital board directors serve on a volunteer basis and do not receive compensation for their services.
Eligible electors in the Salida Hospital District may nominate themselves as a candidate for the office of hospital board director. The Self-Nomination and Acceptance form is available on the Board of Directors page of the hospital’s website at www.hrrmc.com, or by emailing the designated election official, Juanita Ward, at Juanita.Ward@hrrmc.net.
The completed Self-Nomination and Acceptance form may be emailed, delivered to the hospital’s administrative office, or mailed to Ms. Ward at HRRMC, P.O. Box 429, Salida, CO 81201. The deadline for receipt of the Self-Nomination and Acceptance form is prior to 4 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
If no applications beyond the District’s current board members running for another term are received by the deadline, the election will be cancelled. If an election does occur, District residents will vote on May 6, 2025 in person or via absentee ballot.
