Darlene “Dee” Meyer, passed away at her home in Buena Vista with her family by her side, on February 4, 2025. Dee was born on September 2, 1934, in Wayland, Missouri, to James Morrow and Opal (Brumbaugh) Morrow.

As a child, Dee was always fond of the movies and never missed the opportunity to spend the day at the local cinema.  This influenced her love of fashion, which she held on to throughout her life.

Dee graduated from Hamilton High in 1951, where she participated in GAA, FHA, and Girl’s Chorus.  She was a member of the Pep Club and served as Secretary/Treasurer her Senior year.  Dee was a majorette and cheerleader, and she especially enjoyed taking the bus to away games to support the teams.

After graduating high school, Dee moved to Colorado and then southern California to explore new opportunities.  While in California, she met her future husband (Paul), married, and had two children (Julie and Griffin).  Eventually, the family relocated to Westminster, Colorado, where Dee worked as a ward clerk and surgery scheduler at Valley View and St. Anthony North hospitals.  She was a Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed dressing up to support the team, both at work and home.

When Dee retired, she left the Front Range for a cozy log cabin in Buena Vista, Colorado. In retirement, she was an active member of the Buena Vista Christian Women’s Connection, serving as Chair of the Decorating Committee. Dee attended Clearview Community Church and participated in a small Bible Study group, sharing scripture and everyday experiences with a beloved group of women.

Dee loved living in Buena Vista: the fresh air, sunshine, and hummingbirds; the wildflowers, sunsets, snow-capped mountains, and wildlife crossing her yard.  She enjoyed long mountain drives in the summer, and watching the leaves turn in the fall. She also loved her two cats Riley and Lilly, who kept her company.

Dee touched many people over the years and holds a special place in the hearts of family and friends. She is and will continue to be loved and missed greatly by all who had the pleasure and honor to know her.

Dee is lovingly remembered and survived by her sister, MaryAnn (Weldon) Limkeman, Hamilton, Illinois; her two children: Julie Wetzstein, Westminster, Colorado; Griffin (Charleen) Wetzstein, Elizabeth, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.  Dee was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jim (Barb) Morrow, of Montrose, Colorado.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Clearview Community Church in Buena Vista, Colorado, on May 9, 2025, starting at 11:00.  Lunch will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, and if desired, memorial donations may be made to: Ark Valley Humane Society, Buena Vista, Colorado (www.ark-valley.org) or Ronald McDonald House.
