The Custer County Sheriff’s Office has released a statement concerning the termination of one of its deputies.

On August 11th, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office received a criminal complaint involving a Custer County Deputy. Sheriff Hill notified the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and requested their assistance. The deputy was put on administrative leave following receipt of the complaint, pending the conclusion of the criminal investigation.

The CBI concluded their investigation the first of October and presented their case to 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley for review. The District Attorney agreed with the CBI case agent, there was no probable cause to file charges. Once the criminal investigation was complete an internal investigation was conducted by Undersheriff Smith who determined several critical Custer County Sheriff’s Office policies had been violated by the deputy. The deputy’s employment was terminated yesterday.

Custer County Sheriff Robert Hill said in a press release, “The community places its trust in the men and women of our office and need to know that I will not tolerate actions that are inconsistent with our values and policies.”
