CSU-Pueblo Wrestling Coach Dies in Rafting Accident

A man who died in a rafting accident over the weekend has been identified as 53-year-old Michael Roumph of Pueblo West.

Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller said an autopsy yesterday determined the cause of death was “accidental due to drowning.”

Fremont County authorities stated the accident happened at the Narrows Rapid in the Royal Gorge.

Roumph was on a private raft trip with friends when the raft hit a hole.  He was ejected from the raft.

Roumph, who was wearing a personal floatation device and helmet, fell into the water and was recovered downstream.

Roumph was an assistant wrestling coach at CSU-Pueblo for 12 years.
