The Chaffee County Public Health Department is reporting 15 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 7 days, 23 in the last 14 days.   

One 77-year-old male from the north end of the county is hospitalized, the rest are symptomatic but are resting at home.   

Chaffee County Public Health will be offering free coronavirus testing next week, on Tuesday and Thursday in Salida and on Wednesday in Buena Vista.  Appointments must be made the day before testing is held.  To be screened and scheduled, call Public Health at 539-4510.   

The San Luis Valley is experiencing a rapid increase in Covid-19 cases.   

One week ago, there were 15 known cases in the San Luis Valley, today there are 39, including 6 new cases in Saguache County.   

Public Health officials say the high number of new cases represents potential for much higher spread of Covid-19 illness in the coming weeks.   

Everyone is strongly urged to maintain social distancing, avoid large gatherings, wash your hands, and wear a mask when you are in public spaces.
