Chaffee County Public Health has released updated COVID-19 numbers. The new numbers show a jump of cumulative cases in the county to 219.
This increase can be attributed to the outbreak at Buena Vista’s Correctional Complex where 131 cases have been reported, 128 inmates and 3 staff.
When you subtract the 56 Columbine Manor number, that leaves a cumulative total of 32 for Chaffee County, an increase of 1 case from last report.
There are currently no hospitalizations in the county due to COVID-19.
The Colorado National Guard is providing additional COVID-19 testing capability at the correctional facilities in Buena Vista and Canon City through Wednesday. More than 2,000 tests will be taken this week among staff and inmates at these facilities.
