A Cotopaxi man remains on the loose today after escaping from the Teller County Jail. Just days after being sentenced to 34 years in the Colorado.

Department of Corrections for shooting at law enforcement officers, 36-year-old Chancey Colwell escaped Friday from the Teller County Detention Facility in Divide.

According to a press release issued by the Teller County Sheriff’s Office, Colwell escaped during the performance of his duties where he had bee assigned as an inmate worker.

Before his sentencing, he was being held on a $1 million cash bond. The FBI is assisting Teller County is this investigation.
