On May 9th, 2024, the Salida Police Department received information of a possible case involving sexual exploitation of a child. After receiving the information, Detectives immediately began an investigation. During the investigation it was learned that a male subject, Alex Delaney, 35 Salida, had been communicating sexually with a minor from Salida. Delaney is currently a registered sex offender in Chaffee County.
Detectives completed their investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Delaney. Delaney was immediately arrested and placed in the Chaffee County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
Delaney was charged with the following:
C.R.S. 18-6-403 (3)(a) -Sexual Exploitation of a Child – A Class 3 Felony
C.R.S. 18-7-102 – Obscenity – A Class 6 Felony
