January 24 was “Change A Pet’s Life Day,” created to encourage people to adopt pets from shelters and raise awareness about animals in need.
According to the Animal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), about 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters every year, showing the need for animal care and welfare is great.
One way you can be part of the solution is by adopting. There is a special cat or dog waiting for you at Ark-Valley Humane Society right now.
If now is not the time for you to make such a commitment, perhaps you can foster or volunteer. Both are possible at AVHS. Food and supplies are provided for those animals fostered, and there are a wide range of jobs to select from for those who volunteer.
Donations are also gratefully accepted. These can be monetary or gifts in kind, such as food or pet supplies.
Simply participating in fundraisers, such as Tails on the Trail, Movie Night at the Comanche Drive-In or the Fido/Feline Photo Contest also support AVHS and are fun!
In addition are local food drives and shopping/dining opportunities with a percentage of purchase profits going to AVHS.
To keep informed about all these opportunities, go on our website, ark-valley.org or follow us on Facebook.
Many of you already support AVHS, for which we are grateful. You already are bettering the lives of many animals. You are making tails wag!
