Chaffee Rec Adopters, a program dedicated to addressing the growth in outdoor visitation through community volunteerism, has logged more than 2,000 hours of volunteer time this year. The program’s volunteers work closely with land managers to monitor conditions on public lands and address the impacts of increased outdoor activity.

The program’s next event is scheduled for this Friday at Burmac near Salida, where volunteers will install metal campfire rings in newly designated campsites. Following that, volunteers will work in the Tunnel View area on the Arkansas River north of Buena Vista next Wednesday.

In addition, Valley Fellowship Church will hold its annual cleanup event in the South Cottonwood Creek area on Saturday, September 14. These efforts are part of a continued initiative to maintain and preserve the natural beauty of Chaffee County’s public lands.
