Buena Vista, CO – Chaffee County Women Who Care (CCWWC) is proud to announce that Chaffee County Hospitality was chosen as the financial award recipient for third quarter 2024.

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, local women across Chaffee County gathered at Cornerstone Church in Buena Vista to hear funding proposals from three local organizations including; Chaffee County Hospitality, Chaffee County Early Childhood
Council, and Historic St. Elmo and Chalk Creek Canyon. After each nonprofit representative presented on how funding would be used and the potential impact of the group’s support, the CCWWC membership voted for the winner.

“We had a wonderful turn out on Tuesday to hear from three organizations doing powerful work in Chaffee County,” said Sandy Visnack, CCWWC steering committee member. “Each organization makes a profound impact in our community and
strengthens our local economy.”

Chaffee County Hospitality (CCH) provides emergency nighttime winter shelter for men and women, allowing a warm and safe place to sleep during the coldest months of November through April. As an all-volunteer organization, CCH offers low-barrier
shelters and accepts people as they are. CCH pays for motel rooms to house families, individuals with pets, people recovering after a hospital stay, and people who identify as transgender or non-binary and experiencing homelessness. The organization supports
the men and women staying at the shelters by connecting them to services within the city, county, and state.

“Chaffee Hospitality is exceedingly grateful to be the latest recipient of The Women Who Cares’ generosity,” says Tom Abbott, Chaffee County Hospitality board member. “It is so important to come together as a county and provide support to our most vulnerable neighbors. Funding from Chaffee County Women Who Care will support our emergency shelters, opened to our unsheltered neighbors from November 1st to April 30 each year, and our motel room rentals for families and other unsheltered people experiencing medical or mental health crises.”

Chaffee County Women Who Care continues to expand. “Over the past year, we have added four organizations to our nonprofit list and expanded our membership, now 159 members strong,” says Visnack. “Together, our membership makes a significant impact
right here in Chaffee County. I encourage all women in the area, whether a part-time or year ‘round resident, to learn more about Chaffee County Women Who Care.”

The next meeting of Chaffee County Women Who Care will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at A Church in Salida. CCWWC members will hear presentations from the Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund, KHEN Tenderfoot Transmitting, and Boys
and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County.
