In a proactive move to better serve the diverse needs of our community, Chaffee County Public Health
(CCPH) is pleased to announce the expansion of its team with the hiring of two Spanish-speaking staff
members. As a cornerstone of public health, ensuring equitable access to healthcare services is
paramount. CCPH is taking proactive steps to bridge language barriers and foster a more inclusive
environment for all residents.

Jane Cole has been hired as a new Public Health Nurse. Jane has lived in the Arkansas River Valley for
22 years and worked in Public Health in Lake County for 9 years prior to this position. Jane specializes
in sexual health and will work in the areas of immunizations, blood lead, communicable disease and STI
testing. She hopes to build connections to the Latinx community in Chaffee and surrounding counties.
Jane will primarily work in the Buena Vista office.

Nadine Castillo is a Leadville native and has been working in Public Health for over 20 years. She brings
a wealth of knowledge and experience to CCPH, including extensive experience in Vital Records,
immunizations, emergency preparedness, and medical interpretation. She hopes to continue
connecting the Latinx community to the services in Chaffee County.

“Our decision to hire Spanish-speaking staff aligns with our mission to provide accessible, culturally
competent care to all members of our community,” stated Andrea Carlstrom, Director of CCPH. “We
understand the importance of effective communication in delivering quality healthcare services. We
hope that Spanish speaking community members feel comfortable reaching out to CCPH to access a
variety of health and wellness services.”

CCPH is strategizing the best way to utilize these two staff members. For the moment, Spanish
speaking individuals and families can access CCPH services by calling the main phone number at
