The Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is hosting two important presentations tomorrow night at Salida’s SteamPlant. The event will include a discussion on housing challenges in the county and a question-and-answer session with candidates running for the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners.
The first presentation will focus on Chaffee County’s workforce housing shortfall of 1,100 units. The panel will feature affordable housing developer Paul Andrews, Chaffee Housing Authority Executive Director Marjo Curgis, Chaffee Housing Initiative Chair Amy Eckstein, business owner Rob Gartzman, and Chaffee Housing Trust Executive Director Read McCullogh. The discussion will be moderated by Carlin Walsh, a member of the EDC policy committee.
Following the housing discussion, the event will turn to a forum with the five candidates vying for the two open seats on the Board of Chaffee County Commissioners. This portion will focus on the issues most relevant to the business community.
The evening kicks off with an opening reception at 4:30 p.m. Interested attendees can register for the free event at Eventbrite.com.
