Chaffee County Public Health is reporting 15 new positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 7 days, 43 in the last 14 days, for a 2-week positivity rate of 3.73.
One of the new cases, a 78-year-old male, had to be hospitalized. All others are resting at home.
Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is currently at 64 percent capacity.
Chaffee County Public Health is working with the Colorado Department of Health to update our mitigation plan in response to our increased case county so that we do not have to move to a more restrictive environment. Chaffee Public Health Director Andrea Carlstrom says that if do not get a good handle on the spread of the virus here locally, we will have no choice but to move to Safer at Home Level 3 (we are currently in Safer at Home Level 2).
In her bi-weekly situational report Carlstrom also says, “Please do your part to limit the spread of the virus, and I can’t thank you all enough for making the sacrifices necessary to keep our schools open to in-person learning as well as our business community thriving.”
The San Luis Valley has 131 known active Covid-19 cases, including 16 in Saguache County and 68 in Alamosa County.
Lake County found out yesterday that the state is allowing them to remain in Safer at Home Level 2 category for the time being, but remains at risk of the Colorado Department of Health moving the county to Level 3 if the local infection rate does not decline soon.
