Chaffee County Commissioners voted this morning to continue Live Nation’s request for a special event permit for the Seven Peaks Music Festival to July 14th.

Seven Peaks would be a 3-day country music event at The Meadows in Buena Vista over Labor Day weekend.

The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a motion giving Live Nation until July 6th to come into compliance with state statutes surrounding noise limits and the current public health order. This would give commissioners and the public time to review the abridged application before the July 14th meeting. The public will have until July 8th to comment.

By far, the biggest complaint from residents near The Meadows is noise. The question is state statutes giving higher noise levels to non-profits and Live Nation’s use of non-profits to take advantage of higher decibel levels.

Commissioners are also concerned with crowd size. Current public health orders limit the size of outdoor events at 5,000 people. Live Nation has already sold over 5,000 tickets to the Seven Peaks Music Festival.
