Chaffee Chips Wildfire Mitigation Events are currently in progress, offering valuable assistance to landowners in creating defensible spaces around their homes. This year, Chaffee Chips is coordinating free neighborhood slash removal and chipping services across several geographic areas.
Today and tomorrow, Chaffee Chips will be in Lost Creek Ranch and Pine Grove Estates. Upcoming events are scheduled for October 22 through 24 in Lower Chalk Creek and Weldon Creek, and November 5 through 7 in Hayden Springs Ranch and Eureka Moon.
Since its inception in 2020, Chaffee Chips has helped 750 landowners build 2,300 piles of slash, which were either chipped on-site by the Colorado State Forest Service or hauled away by the Chaffee County Fire Protection District.
