2020 census numbers are out, and Colorado’s population grew by more than 14.5 percent from 2010.

That means that Colorado will pick up an 8th congressional seat.

Colorado’s population in 2020 was 5.8 million, an increase of 750,000 people.

Colorado is one of six states that will add congressional districts for the 2022 election. Also adding a seat is Montana, Oregon, Florida, and North Carolina and Texas will add two seats.

Losing population and therefore, losing a congressional seat are California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
