A man is accused of running over his child, killing him and has admitted to authorities that he had consumed marijuana about three hours before the incident Wednesday morning in Canon City.

38-year-old Isaac Bullard appeared for an advisement hearing in district court yesterday.  He faces charges of vehicular homicide, careless driving causing death, driving under the influence of drugs and child abuse resulting in death.

Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller say the child would have been 2 years old in February.

District Attorney Kaitlin Turner asked Judge Ramsey Lama to impose a cash only bond, stating that Bullard had received more than a dozen speeding tickets since 2004 and he was considered a “danger to the community.”

Judge Lama, however, said while the charges are “tragic and horrific,” and because Bullard had no criminal history and no DUIs, he released Bullard from custody on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bullard ran over the child at their Canon City residence while he was backing out of his driveway.
