The Buena Vista Recreation Department is continuing to stay busy this summer in improving the infrastructure already in place, and the next project getting a look is the Pocket Wave of the Buena Vista Whitewater Park.

Earl Richmond with BV Rec

The Whitewater Park is one of the longest in the state and gets plenty of use, but unfortunately, during medium to low flow, the Pocket Wave can lose some of it’s enjoyable features.

Buena Vista Rec will be working with a company out of Salida that focuses on whitewater features, and thanks to technology, will be able to make the wave more enjoyable year in low flows so the feature sees more use year round.

Earl Richmond with Buena Vista Rec says the wave will be a fun feature for rafters and kayakers as well as people surfing and boogie boarding.

There has been a Go-Fund Me page set up to raise the initial funds to apply for grants which will help to offset the costs. Currently, over $2,500 of the $3,900 goal has been reached. If you would like to donate, you can find the Go-Fund Me by following this link.
