A Chaffee County family claims they were scammed out of nearly $30,000, saying a contractor they hired never did the job.

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation that victims say spans several Colorado counties.

Matt and Erin Flavin wanted to build a commercial structure to house their equipment for their lawn care business. They told Denver 7 that they found Quinn Rudnitsky of RMR Designs and Woodworking. The Flavins paid Rudnitsky $29,500 as a down payment and have not heard from Rudnitsky since, and that is when they contacted the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office told Denver 7 that it is investigating the matter.
