Avalanche Forces Closure of Highway 50 Over Monarch Pass [Updated]

CDOT is reporting as of 10 am, the avalanche snow removal work on Highway 50 has been completed and Monarch Pass is once again open in both directions.

[Original Story] An avalanche has forced the closure of Highway 50 over Monarch Pass.

Highway 50 is closed in both directions between County Road 237B and Monarch Park Campground (near Monarch Pass) due to an avalanche.

The Colorado Department of Transportation had avalanche mitigation scheduled for today due to rising danger.
