On February 15, 2022 at 4:45 p, Alamosa County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the town of Hooper at County Rd 108.5 and School Desk Rd in reference to some found human remains.
The remains were discovered by two local citizens who then called the authorities. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the retrieval of the body. The Alamosa County Coroner was also on scene.
The body was transported to Colorado Springs to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office where positive ID of the body was completed. The person was identified as Hooper resident Johnathan Rein. Cause and manner of death have not been determined at this time. Next of kin were difficult to locate, causing and extended time frame for a press release.
The Alamosa County Sherriff’s Department is awaiting a report from the medical examiner.
The Alamosa County Sheriff’s office does not feel that there is any danger to the public.
The Sheriff office sends out it’s condolence to the family and friends of Mr. Rein.
