Betty Elaine (McCormack) McGinley, a cherished resident of Nathrop, Colorado, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on November 15, 1945, in Denver, Colorado, Betty spent her formative years in Littleton, where she graduated from Littleton High School in 1963.
Betty dedicated many years to her career at IMI (then C.A.) Norgren while raising her family in Littleton. In 2000, she and her beloved husband, Patrick McGinley, relocated to the Arkansas River Valley, where they fulfilled their dream of building a home in Nathrop. Together, they owned and operated the Salida Pak Mail store for nine years. Betty later embraced a fulfilling “retirement,” working summers at the St. Elmo gift shop, traveling across the United States and Europe, exploring the Collegiate Peaks, and volunteering at the Ark-Valley Humane Society.
Betty was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Harold and Marian McCormack. She leaves behind her husband and partner of 40 years, Patrick McGinley; her sister, Ann Carlin; and her brother, Steve (Mac) McCormack. Betty was a loving mother to Holly (Jack) Durston, Todd Johnson, and Kari Johnson, and a devoted stepmother to Alyssa (Wyatt) McGinley-Harrington. She also leaves behind two nephews, Pat (Michelle) Carlin and Scott (Maralea) Carlin, and five great-nephews. Her legacy continues through her five granddaughters: Caitlin (Brian) Durston, Brianna Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Shelby McGinley-Harrington, and Wren McGinley-Harrington.
Betty’s life was a testament to her love for family and animals. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Ark-Valley Humane Society, a cause dear to Betty’s heart, at https://www.ark-valley.org/. Betty’s warmth, generosity, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
