The City of Salida provided an update on the Artspace affordable housing project, which is progressing toward the construction phase after receiving City Council approval for its conceptual design last summer.
The $10 million project, located at 1st and D Streets, will feature 19 affordable rental units along with flexible creative space designed for local artists and makers. The project will be managed by Artspace for 35 years, ensuring long-term affordability based on state-required area median income formulas.
Artspace is preparing to apply for state grants to secure funding, with grant decisions expected by mid-summer. If funding is secured, construction is anticipated to begin in late 2025 or early 2026.
