Anderson McClain Horne of Salida, Colorado
8/15/1973 – 8/25/2024 Anderson McClain Horne passed from this earth on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Beloved father, husband, son, brother and friend – he is survived by his wife, Tiffany Lynn Rhodes, son Henry Rhodes Horne; his mother Sylvia Pool Horne of Galveston, Texas; brother John Boston Horne and his wife Emily and nieces Georgina and Margot; and his father-in-law, Cecil Rhodes. Anderson was preceded in death by his father, Alvin “Andy” Horne, in June of this year. There are many additional family members, friends, colleagues and community members mourning his loss. Born to Sylvia and Andy in Houston, Texas in August of 1973, Anderson grew up in Houston and attended the Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church. He was an active young man with many interests and activities ranging from fishing, sports and choir. His diverse interests were evident from a young age, and he would go on to enjoy learning and sharing his knowledge throughout his life. He was close to his younger brother John and excelled in school, sports, and more. After finishing high school, Anderson studied abroad in Germany and graduated with two undergraduate degrees from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. He often spoke about his time with his parents living in Saipan before entering law school at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. While obtaining his Juris Doctor (JD) and Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) at Texas Tech, he also met his bride of more than 22 years, Tiffany Rhodes. They married in May 2002 and moved to Greenville, South Carolina, for her medical residency. He served as a public prosecutor and practicing attorney in Greenville for several years. He transitioned from those roles to a law magnet teacher at Greenville High School and the lacrosse team coach there. They also became a family of three when Henry was born in March of 2008. Being Henry’s father was one of the most defining aspects and biggest honors of Anderson’s life. The family moved to Salida in 2018 for Tiffany to begin her work at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center and knew they had found a community to love. Anderson was an avid outdoorsman, loving to raft, ski, and found other ways to enjoy the outdoors – especially with his son Henry. Anderson was active in the Salida community as a local social studies teacher at Salida High School and adjunct instructor at Colorado Mountain College as well as volunteering as chair of the planning commission for Chaffee County and working as a seasonal raft guide along the Arkansas River. A private service is planned for family and close friends. In place of flowers, please consider a donation to a local mental health charity or the National Suicide Prevention efforts.
