The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a man has been found dead in the vicinity of the Avalanche Trailhead.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the trailhead off County Road 306 late yesterday afternoon on a report of person that was deceased. Sheriff’s personnel arrived and found the man.
An investigation has been initiated and as a result County Road 306 west of Rainbow Lake is closed until further notice.
