The Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has announced that Deborah Cameron, a seasoned economic developer based in Denver, will become the third Executive Director in the organization’s 16-year history.

Cameron currently serves as the Chief Business Development Officer for the City and County of Denver’s Economic Development and Opportunity Office. She will succeed Jake Rishavy, who has led the EDC since 2020. Rishavy recently acquired the Heart of the Rockies Radio Group, a deal that received FCC approval and is set to close on January 1st.

The EDC was established in 2008 in response to the Great Recession and has been a driving force behind private sector efforts to foster year-round job creation in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. As a standalone nonprofit, the organization collaborates with private businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, and academic partners to support entrepreneurial growth, develop a modern workforce, and advocate for business-friendly public policies.

Cameron’s leadership is expected to build on the EDC’s success and strengthen its mission to advance economic opportunities in Chaffee County.
