Buena Vista Police Chief Jimmy Tidwell has released a press release with more information on what caused Buena Vista Schools to be placed on “Lock Out” last Thursday.
Tidwell says the BV Police Department received information from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that a social media post made a threat toward schools. No specific school was mentioned, but the person making the post was found to be in Buena Vista.
Authorities then placed all Buena Vista schools in “Lock Out” as a precautionary measure.
The person making the post was identified and detained. It was determined that there were no criminal offenses committed and that there was no danger to citizens at any time. The person fully cooperated with law enforcement and was released.
