Amicas Pizza, a long-time pizza restaurant and brewpub in downtown Salida, announced on Facebook today that they are filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows a business, or debtor, to propose a plan of reorganization and keep its business alive. Amicas Pizza Manager Whitney McGovern confirmed to Heart of the Rockies Radio News that Amicas will indeed continue to be open their regular business hours during the restructuring process.
The filing of Chapter 11 comes as a result of the closing of Stoke BBQ, a restaurant venture the owners of Amicas undertook this past year. Stoke closed in December.
In their Facebook post, Amicas said, “To our amazing community & employees: We would like to start by thanking you personally for all your support during and before this very difficult time. Thank you to the folks that patronized and supported Stoke. Thank you to the wonderful employees at Stoke that took a chance with us to create an amazing space and we are so sorry that what we envisioned did not come to fruition in the time we needed it to. We hope that we can continue on and be back in a position to eventually support the community the way we have been fortunate enough to in the past.”
