Several new laws will take effect in Colorado on January 1st.

Single use plastic bags will no longer be available in grocery stores. Styrofoam will also be eliminated in to-go food containers. 

Pet security deposits in rentals will be capped at $300. 

Other new laws create the right-to-repair for agricultural equipment, allows people to participate in eviction proceedings remotely and sets limits on campaign contributions for municipal elections. 

Also, the minimum wage statewide will increase from $13.65 to $14.42 an hour.
