A body discovered over the weekend at Florence River Park has been identified as the Salida man who went missing after wrecking his motorcycle and being ejected into the river June 22nd in Parkdale. 

He has been identified as 59-year-old Derek Pulos. 

The Colorado State Patrol said the crash happened on Highway 50 near the Parkdale Bridge and Zip Line Road. The Patrol said Pulos was driving a motorcycle westbound at a high rate of speed at the same time a car was facing southbound at a stop sign. The driver of the car was beginning to make a lefthand turn onto 50 when the motorcycle hit the side of the car as it was turning.

The motorcycle went airborne and Pulos went into the river and was not found until his body was recovered September 4th.

Pulos was facing multiple charges in Chaffee County District Court, including attempted first-degree murder, menacing, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, assault in the first-degree and sexual assault. He was on bond at the time of the crash.
