Three stranded subjects were rescued from Brown’s Canyon late Thursday night by Chaffee County Search and Rescue and Colorado Parks and Wildlife River Rangers.

Thursday, July 6th, around 10:15 pm Chaffee Chaffee County Search and Rescue – South was paged to respond to Brown’s Canyon along with Colorado Park’s and Wildlife River Rangers and Chaffee County Search and Rescue North for a report of a flipped raft and stranded parties. 

The North-end team responded with two ATV’s and accessed the canyon from the north with a CPW Ranger and kayak, while the South-end team responded to Hecla Junction with a raft and three members with e-bikes to ferry across and access the railroad tracks. 

The three missing subjects were located in two groups below Zoom Flume, one with the raft and the other two parties upriver from them. The CPW Ranger deployed in their kayak, retrieving the one subject and raft, and subsequently the additional two subjects using the retrieved raft. 

All were ferried back across to river left and assisted to the waiting ATV’s on the railroad tracks and shuttled back north out of the canyon. All SAR and CPW personnel were out of the field by 03:15 am on July 7th.
