Salida Schools welcomes Jesse Hull as Principal at Salida High School for the ‘22-’23 school year.

Hull, who served the Manitou Springs community for the past 17 years, brings with him over a decade of high school administrative experience. He began as a teacher at MSHS, and then moved into an administrative roles, first as Dean of Students, then Assistant Principal, and most recently as Principal beginning in 2020.

Hull comes from a family of educators, and is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History. He then attended Georgia State University where he pursued a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Secondary Education Social Science. His next step was to earn a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Walden University, and then he pursued an Alternative Principal License from the School Leaders for Colorado Program.

During his career he has served as an administrator, teacher, outdoor educator, and wilderness instructor. A former college wrestler, Jesse has also coached high school wrestling. He values high academic achievement, social emotional learning, relationships, innovation, school spirit, extracurricular opportunities, and strong community involvement to provide college and career readiness for his students. His strengths lie in the ability to use his various teaching experiences to create a positive rapport with students and staff so that classrooms are focused on learning.

Jesse is excited to lead Salida High School and looks forward to working collaboratively with the SHS team, and building relationships within the Salida community. He believes in creating trust and embracing the shared goal of preparing students for life after high school, while supporting staff and creating a stable and supportive culture on campus. He looks forward to building on the standard of excellence already in place, and leading the school towards continued success and improvement.

A move to Salida was of interest to the Hull family for all the right reasons, including the sense of community, mountain biking, camping, skiing, and rafting. Jesse will be joined by his wife Amy, who owns her own PR business, and their kids Lucy, Alice, and Jake, who will be in 4th, 7th and 10th grade respectively. Presumably, their golden retriever Harry will also enjoy the move to the Arkansas River Valley for all of the wonderful things it provides.
