A powerful Pacific storm system is set to arrive tonight and will bring strong winds to the mountains, along with locally heavy wind driven snow.
The highest impacts will occur during the early morning hours of Wednesday (Dec. 15th), especially across the San Juan mountains. Southwest winds will be 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph at times.
The High Wind Warning is from 6 am to noon Wednesday, Dec. 15th. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines and make travel difficult especially for high-profile vehicles.
PRECAUTIONARY & PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
