A Cotopaxi man who shot a law enforcement officers in three different counties during a November 2020 pursuit was yesterday sentenced to 34 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.  

36-year-old Chancey Colwell fired at a Canon City police officer and deputies form two other jurisdictions during the November 21st pursuit that ended in Teller County. He had five outstanding warrants from Fremont and El Paso counites at the time of his arrest. 

Colwell entered a plea to attempted murder and agreed to the sentence. His DOC sentence will be followed by five years parole.
