Governor Jared Polis has signed an executive order declaring a disaster emergency for the Muddy Slide fire in Routt County.   

The executive order better enables state agencies to coordinate fire suppression, response and recovery efforts.   

The wildfire, which started on June 20 and is burning on forest service land west of Kremmling, has scorched over 4,000 acres.  More than 200 firefighting personnel are battling the fire which is at 58 percent containment.   

Hazy, smoky conditions continue today across Colorado.  There are several fires burning in Colorado. 

The Morgan Creek Fire 15 miles north of Steamboat Springs has burned over 4,400 acres.  It is 0 percent contained.

The Sylvan Fire is burning 15 miles south of Eagle.  The fire has grown to 3,800 acres and is 68 percent contained.

The Oil Springs Fire in far western Colorado south of Rangely has burned almost 13,000 acres but is 99 percent contained.  

Currently, over 50 large wildfires have burned over 1 million acres across the western U.S. this year.
