The City of Salida has been awarded a $10,000 grant from The Skatepark Project.
Skatepark Project grants are given to free, public skateparks in high-need areas. Applicants must demonstrate a strong grassroots commitment to the project, especially in the form of fundraising by local youth and community groups.
Although construction is underway for the new 14,500 square foot skatepark next to the Salida Aquatic Center, Friends of Salida Skatepark are still raising funds. Fundraising began last year and have raised nearly $30,000. Money is still needed for a shade pavilion, power, lighting and benches.
