The Custer County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a possible vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run last week.

The accident claimed the life of an Alabama man.

Sheriff Shannon Byerly said in a press release that deputies were dispatched to 102 Main Street in Westcliffe last Thursday night. When deputies arrived, they found a man identified as Jacob Ross of Deatsville, Alabama, in distress and telling deputies he could not breathe.

Ross was able to tell deputies he was hit by a vehicle but could not provide a description. Ross began to lose consciousness and CPR was started; however, all lifesaving attempts were unsuccessful.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol and the District Attorney’s Office are investigating this incident and no additional information is available.
