One person has died as the result of a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Red Hill Pass in Park County.

The following is the Colorado State Patrol report.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Highway 285 near mile marker 186. This is in Park County, Colorado. The crash occurred on December 20, 2019, at approximately 1830 hours.

A 2004 Toyota Tundra was traveling south on Highway 285 on Red Hill Pass. The Toyota drifted over the center line into the northbound lane of traffic. The Toyota collided head-on with a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. After impact the Toyota rolled one and a quarter times and came to rest on its driver’s side. After impact the Hyundai collided with a guard rail and came to rest on its tires.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Shawn McGuire, a 56 year-old male from Alma Colorado. He was transported by flight to St. Anthony’s Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was identified as Jacquline Benns, a 30 year-old female from Bailey Colorado. The two passengers in the vehicle were Adam Smith, a 28 year-old male form Lakewood Colorado, and Tristan Benns, an 8 year-old juvenile male from Bailey Colorado. Tristan Benns was pronounced as deceased on scene.

Adam Smith was transported to Summit County Medical Center with serious injuries. Jacquline Benns was transported to Summit County Medical Center with minor injuries.

Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time. Both drivers and all passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
