The Salida Public Works Department has multiple roadway capital projects underway.

This includes numerous work locations for reconstruction, utility related improvements, and improvements to sidewalk, curb and gutter, and crosswalks.

B Street reconstruction from 1st Street to Park Avenue is schedule to begin the second week of June. This project includes sidewalk, curb & gutter, asphalt paving improvements and is expected to take approximately two months.

Poncha Boulevard and 3rd Street intersection improvements are underway. This project includes sidewalk, curb & gutter, bike lanes, intersection realignment, and green space enhancements. This work will provide improved pedestrian mobility between the mesa area and the downtown and safety improvements to the intersections. Additional detouring of traffic is expected to occur throughout June as this work is being completed. Access will be maintained to the entrances of the County offices, however, alternate routes may be necessary.

Improvements to East Crestone Avenue and 3rd Street intersection have been completed and are open to the public. The City is also working with CDOT as US-50 Phase IV Streetscape improvements along with other ADA and sidewalk improvements are being completed in the downtown area.

Each of these projects are expected to have periodic closures and detours established throughout the course of construction with limited access to local traffic.  We look forward to improving our City streetscapes with the completion of these projects.
