This week is National Public Health Week. Public Health agencies would like to gratefully and publicly acknowledge the hard work and dedication that public health staff have shown under incredibly difficult circumstances over the past two years.
Students of Salida High School will shift to remote learning on Wednesday and Thursday, March 16 and 17, 2022.
There are significant changes underway for our response to COVID-19 according to Greg Felt, Chairman of the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners, and Andrea Carlstrom, Director of Chaffee County Public Health.
Salida School District students will no longer be required to wear a mask on school buses.
Masking will no longer be required in county facilities effective immediately.
Chaffee County Public Health is only reporting 32 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 7 days. According to the CDC, Chaffee County has dropped to a 5.4% positivity rate.
Chaffee County, Colorado- Chaffee County Public Health has acquired a limited number of free iHealth COVID-19 over-the-counter antigen rapid tests to distribute throughout the county.
Students of Salida High School will shift to remote learning on Thursday, February 17th, in order to move available substitutes to support other campuses.
All six counties in the SLV are still listed as having “high” levels of SARS-CoV-2 virus transmission on the CDC COVID-19 Tracker.
Chaffee County Public Health is reporting 90 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 7 days, and 193 in the last 14 days. According to the CDC, Chaffee County has fallen to a 9% positivity rate.
Although incidence is decreasing and many cases are mild, there are still people in the San Luis Valley experiencing severe illness, and hospitalization.
