The Salida Spartans and Buena Vista Demons were on the road outside of Colorado City and Rye at Hollydot Golf Course on Thursday afternoon.
The Demons saw a rough day for all involved outside of Chandler Smethers, but it was the Spartans who would control the day, finishing in 4th on the day, and 3rd out of the league teams involved behind Lamar and St. Mary’s.
Aiden Hadley’s 83 would lead the Spartans, with Ben Clayton firing an 89 ahead of Brandon Purcell’s 90 for the scoring Spartans. Eric O’Connor finished the four with a 98.
The Demons saw Chandler post an 83 to match Hadley from Salida, but all three of the remaining Demons would post scores in the 90’s. Cole Reavis would post a 95, Quinn Philips a 96 and Max Johnson a 99.
Both Salida and Buena Vista will be competing in Carbondale on Tuesday at the regional meet to try to earn a spot at state in Gunnison in October.
