U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen’s office announced that her staff will hold constituent office hours in Chaffee County tomorrow. The specific location will be provided to those who register in advance at Pettersen’s official website, Pettersen.house.gov.

Staff members will be available to assist residents with a range of federal concerns, including passport services, IRS issues, veterans benefits, Medicare, Social Security, and other federal agency requests.

In addition to the local office hours, Pettersen has scheduled a “Know Your Rights” webinar for tomorrow at 6 p.m. Registration is also available through Pettersen.house.gov. According to a press release from the congresswoman’s office, the online event is being held in response to recent national and regional developments, including the fatal shootings of two civilians by federal immigration agents in Minnesota and heightened immigration enforcement activity in Colorado. Pettersen’s office says the webinar, (which will feature information for both English and Spanish speakers ) is intended to help community members understand their constitutional rights when interacting with immigration authorities. The congresswoman’s staff will be joined by partners from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to answer questions and provide guidance. (X (formerly Twitter))

Pettersen has stressed that “every person in our country has rights under the Constitution, regardless of immigration status,” and has compiled resources on her website to help residents prepare for encounters with federal officers. (Ark Valley Voice)
