Winter Weather Advisory and High Wind Warning for Friday, January 17

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the higher elevations until 5 pm today. 

Snow will increase over the mountains today with accumulations of 3-5 inches possible above 8,000 feet.  The San Juan’s in southwest Colorado will see over a foot from this storm. 

A High Wind Warning is in effect through 11 pm tonight. 

Winds will be out of the west at 35 to 45 mph with gust up to 85 mph possible.  Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Salida and Buena Vista will see a high of 41 today; expect an overnight low of 13. 

The San Luis Valley can expect a high of 33, a low of 2.

Leadville and Fairplay will see a high of 25, a low of -1.

     The weekend will be sunny and mild.
