[UPDATE] The Colorado Grand’s Salida Show has been cancelled to due inclement weather.
[Original story] The Colorado Grand is coming to Salida Friday, Sep. 15th. The Grand will be at Thonhoff Park in front of the Chaffee County Courthouse from 11 am to 1 pm.
The Colorado Grand is an annual charity tour for 1960 and earlier sports and race cars of distinction. Every September about 120 vintage cars participate in this relaxed, non-competitive event, covering 1,000 miles through the Rockies in five days. This is the 34th year for the Colorado Grand and to date, has contributed more than $8.2 million dollars to local charities in the communities they visit.
Spectators are invited to come out and see the cars and meet their owners.
Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
