The Salida Community Center’s food program will take place Wednesday, April 1st at 10 at the Center in downtown Salida at 3rd and F Street.
The Salida Community Center administers the TEFAP and the CSFP programs.
TEFAP stands for The Emergency Food Assistance Program that provides food extra food to people living on a low income.
CSFP is the Commodity Supplemental Food Program that provides low-income seniors, age 60 and older, with extra food each month.
Both programs are open to all Chaffee County residents at No Cost to the recipient.
This month, all senior boxes will be delivered. If you have received boxes in the past but did not receive a call, please call the center at 719-539-3351.
If you are low-income at this time due to circumstances and would like to participate in the TEFAP program, please come to the center at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 1. We will have volunteers asking for minimal information such as name address phone number and how many people in household.
Distribution of the TEFAP food will be different from previous months as well. You are being asked to remain in your car and the food will be delivered to you. Staff will be standing in front of the Salida Community Center at 305 F Street to direct traffic.
The Central Colorado Humanist will also be handing out items such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, and toilet paper.
Volunteers are needed to help preparing for the food distribution starting at 8 am on Wednesday, April 1st. If you can help, call Elaine Allemang at 719-539-3351.
Please do not just show up since we are abiding by all rules from the Health Department.
Please remember everyone helping distribute food are volunteers and this is a large undertaking please be patient with all of us.
