A protest of the Buena Vista Post Office is being planned for Friday, July 29th, and Saturday, July 30th.
The protest will take place from 11:30am to 1:30pm both days at the intersection of Highway 24 and Brookdale. A group calling themselves BV Citizens for a Better Post Office has been formed and is organization the protest.
The reasons cited by the organization for the protest include: Mail delivery is not free in Buena Vista. Rates have reached $166 for the smallest box.
Another complaint is the services at the BV Post Office have deteriorated with reports of packages and other mail being lost, misplaced or delayed. Counter hours are shorter and there is no Saturday counter service.
Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas.
Dan attended Arkansas State University from 1978 to 1982--where he picked up the name "Dan R" after his fraternity brothers couldn’t pronounce his last name. He lived in Jonesboro for 10 years working in radio and as a TV weatherman. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado.
Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
